I was raised believing in equal opportunity for all, regardless of gender. But 20 years in professional life, including a decade at Google during its hyper-growth phase, revealed a different reality.
The numbers are stark: there are only about 10-12% female CEOs in our Swedish listed companies. When I searched for a CEO role myself, meeting with executive search firms, I hit a glass ceiling. It was an exhausting, fruitless process, marked by a lack of understanding for the innovative leadership needed in today’s fast-paced world.
I realized there was a critical gap. The market needed a mission-driven company—an ecosystem—dedicated to advancing women in leadership. A platform offering networking, leadership development, mentorship, and most importantly, executive headhunting that could truly move the needle on gender equality statistics.
In 2016, we started to build this vision. We first established Women for Leaders, where the Premium Leadership Program is complemented by Signe, our digital platform for community and mentorship. Building on that foundation, we then launched EQ Executive Search.
